Obituary of Fritz (Fred) Cameron Hoffman
October 10, 1951 – February 2, 2020
02/02/2020 (is the first global palindrome day in 909 years)
Surrounded by his family, Fred passed away at the age of 68 years, in the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
He is no longer suffering from the devastating ALS disease, which he so hated as it deteriorated his body functions. God granted Fred and us one “final wish”, that he not suffer no more.
Fred was born to Karl and Georgina Hoffman on October 10, 1951 in Hanna, Alberta. He was raised on the family farm and at a young age, soon took to farming alongside his father Karl.
When he met a young woman Beverly Kurtz, they began a sweetheart romance, and married October 10, 1970 in Hanna, AB. Together they were blessed with 2 children, son, Casey and daughter, Charlene. With the addition of 3 grandsons: Matt, Jeff, and Blair. Fred loved them all dearly and was super proud of each of them.
Fred and Bev took over the family farm early in their marriage. Eventually their son Casey began farming with them as a family team.
In the 1980’s Fred started his own business in the oil industry, Hoffman Vacuum Tank Service, which he was owner, operator up till 2018.
Fred loved farming, hunting, fishing, camping and over the last 10 years, LOVED cruising. Together Fred and Bev cruised over and over the Caribbean, South America, and Alaska.
Fred leaves behind his loving family, wife Bev of 49 years; son Casey Hoffman (Hanna, AB); daughter and son in law, Charlene and Doug Haverland; grandsons: Matthew, Jeffrey, Blair (Leduc, AB); 2 sisters: Debi (Daryl) Nill (Red Deer, AB), Cory (Doug) Smith (Edmonton, AB); mother in law, Donna Kurtz (Claresholm, AB); several extended family of brothers and sisters in law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be sorely missed by his family and wide circle of friends.
A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held at the Hoffman Family Farm at a later date.
