I remember visits to the Hart ranch as a child. I was in awe of my cousin Tommy--he was a real cowboy. He always made visits an adventure. He had an instinct for fun and trouble. The thing I loved most about my cousin Tommy was that it didn't matter how much time had passed between visits, he instantly treated me like kin. He was the fun-loving, and sometimes obnoxious, Hart brother I never had. Though we were able to reconnect through social media, I am sad that we didn't get the chance to meet in person again.

I have some very wonderful memories of my time with cousin Tom. When I was 15 he and I drove my horses and chickens from Salmon Arm BC to Aberdeen Saskatchewan. Our trip together was one of the highlights of my youth - neither one able to back down from any strong beliefs; I think we may have argued the entire time,but we had a wonderful time exasperating each other. I'm pretty sure there were multiple times I refused to get back in the truck over some imagined slight and he would pretend to roar off.I especially enjoyed his CB communications to other truckers, I think he was showing off a little bit. Anytime I saw Tom after that we would have a great time teasing each other. He had recently become friends with my son,and we were looking forward to a trip up to visit him as he was going to sell us some flooring - a great deal for family. He was a vibrant character with a big heart and fierce loyalty. The world doesn't seem as fun without him here.
I remember Tom’s Banana yellow Dodge truck. He actually convinced me once to clean out the inside for $5. I didn’t get very far into cleaning, and I went back for a raise in pay!
