Obituary of Helen Lillian Riddle
Helen Lillian was born on Feb 24th,1934 to Arthur and Lillian Pincombe and was the youngest of their 7 children. Helen passed away at the Hanna Hospital after a brief illness on March 28, 2021, she was 87 years old.
Helen grew up on the family farm 9 miles north of Richdale until 1939 when her family moved to Hanna. She attended all her schooling in Hanna and always spoke fondly of her friends from school.
She married Alf Siverson of Garden Plains on October 18th, 1953 and they had 6 children, Marie, May, Sandra, Arthur, Terry, and Annette. They lived at Garden Plains until moving to Calgary in 1967.
Helen moved back to Hanna in 1971 and married Hugh Riddle Dec 18, 1976. They lived at Scapa farm until they retired from farming in 1990, selling the farm to their youngest daughter Annette and Rob Steinbrecker.
Mom always helped wherever she could for our family and the farm. All from being a Mom to running the tractors and bailer or meals during harvest and seeding. She also never shied away from her turn checking cattle especially during calving season.
Helen lived in her residence in Hanna until after Hugh passed away Aug 13, 1998. After a few years she then moved to Parkview Manor 1 in 2002 where she enjoyed more than 18 years in the company of many old and new friends during that time.
Very recently, after a brief illness, Helen had moved to the Hanna Acadia Lodge for a short time but was very happy to be there with the kind support and attention of those helping her out.
Helen is survived by her children: Marie Nicholson (Dave) of Calgary, May Peach of Coleman, Arthur Johansson of Blairmore, Terry Siverson (Caroline) of Hanna, Annette Steinbrecker (Robert) of Delia. As well as 15 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.
Helen is predeceased by her husband Hugh, her parents Arthur and Lillian Pincombe, her sister's Sylvia and Eileen, her brother’s Arthur, Albert, Percy and Gordon, her daughter Sandra and Great Grandchild Clayton.
Helen’s Family would like to thank those who helped Helen from her time at the Manor to the Acadia Lodge to all the Nurses and Doctors at the Hanna Hospital. We are very thankful for the kindness and compassion shared with our Mom during this time.
