Obituary of Phillip Buchfink
It is with heavy hearts and much love that the family of Phillip Buchfink announce his passing on May 30, 2021 at the age of 88. Phillip showed great strength over the past several years, facing his illness with courage and patience.
He will always be remembered. He leaves behind his treasured wife Donna, children whom he dearly cherished: Wolfgang (Shirley), Dean, Teresa (Michael), Karen (Troy), and Lori (Brian) along with grandchildren who were the light of his life: Christine (Christopher), Tracie, Steven, Jaclyn, Andrea (Jamie), Erich, Mikhaila, Stefani (Luis), Thomas, Logan (Elizabeth), Travis, Joshua, Matthew (Jackie), Todd and Kirby, and his most precious great grandchildren: Brooke, Hailey, Sienna, Cassie, Bennett, Luna, Harper and Leighton. Also left to mourn are his many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren and Donna’s family.
Phillip was predeceased by his beloved first wife and mother of his children, Bettina, as well as his son Gunther.
Like the principles he applied in his carpentry trade, Phillip built his life on a firm foundation rooted in faith, family and perseverance. His humble dedication to his community was exemplified by his commitment to serve when and where he was needed. Over the years Phillip formed countless friendships, often forged over coffee times. He enjoyed fishing, curling and playing golf for many years. Nothing made Phillip happier though than time spent with his family. The structures he built with his hands will pass, however, the legacy he formed with his heart through his quiet modelling of kindness, compassion and gentleness will be carried on in the lives he touched.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral will take place on Friday, June 4, 2021, followed by an interment at the Hanna Cemetery. Laurie Palmer of Hanna Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements. Those wishing to make a memorial donation may make them to Hanna Redeemer Lutheran Church, Box 746, Hanna AB T0J 1P0.
