Obituary of Stefan Tivadar

Steve was born in Slovenia (part of the former Yugoslavia) on August 8th 1932 in the town of Gomilica. He was the third of six sons. He immigrated to Canada in 1957. Shortly after arriving in Canada he started working at CN Rail in Benton AB. He and Bette Dunphy married in 1960, raised five children in Oyen then Hanna, where he still worked for CN as a foreman until retirement in 1988. You could always find Steve in his garden from May to October and in the winter he’d putz in the garage or basement making or fixing something for next year’s gardening season. His humour and the twinkle in his eye will be missed by all. Steve passed away peacefully on the morning of October 21st at the age of 85 in the Hanna hospital. Steve was predeceased by his wife Bette (2006) and son Paul (1988). He is survived by his daughters Janet and Margaret (Vince), his son Andrew (Barb and grandson Liam) and Blaise (Michele). Funeral service will be held at St. George’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S.
