Obituary of William (Bill) Jager
William ‘Bill’ Jager passed away on February 4, 2023, at the Hanna Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his wife (Astrid) of 58 years, two brothers (John and Don) and an infant son.
He is mourned by his two daughters: Betty-Lou (Steve Hewitt); Denise (Cam Corbet); 4 grandchildren (David, Jenn and Steven Steinbrecker and Jaylyn Hewitt) and 6 great grandchildren.
Bill was born in Hanna on April 24, 1939, to Jack and Pearl Jager. He was raised on the family ranch which was homesteaded by his grandparents (Charles and Elizabeth Finkbeiner). Bill attended Grassy Slope, Maunders, and Spondin Schools before starting a job as partsman with CCIL in Hanna.
While working in town, Bill met and married a young Nurse’s Aide (Astrid) on June 16, 1962.
In 1963 the couple purchased the Family Homestead where they continued to build their ranch.
Bill took pride in all aspects of his ranch and truly loved his cattle. He had a natural skill for carpentry and welding which lended well in building and repairing almost anything.
He was a determined, independent, hardworking man whose word was gold and his handshake a guarantee.
