Obituary of Joyce Marie Gellein

Joyce Marie Gellein (nee Bourgeois) passed away peacefully at the Hanna Hospital on October 3, 2023 at the age of 69. By her side was her loving husband Ray Gellein, daughter Cynthia Gellein and sister Sandy Hoffman.

  Joyce was born January 27, 1954 in Newport, Gaspé, Quebec. The family moved to Schefferville, Quebec when Joyce was six years old. She spent all her growing up years there. Joyce was very active in sports and had a real talent for poetry and public speaking. She won many awards. Joyce loved golfing, gardening, reading and music.

  The family moved to Kamloops BC in 1975. Joyce met the love of her life Raymond in 1976 and they were married July 7th, 1977, in Kamloops. They spent 47 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two daughters Kora Rae Gellein and Cynthia Marie Gellein and two stepchildren Eric Gellein and Anna Dubois.

  Joyce worked in corrections for six years in Grand Cashe, Alberta and moved to Hanna in 1990 where she worked in long term care for 21 years, where she was a very dedicated hardworking Health Care Aide.

  After retirement she enjoyed spending her winters in Yuma, AZ with her husband. Here they made so many new and treasured friends.

  Joyce was predeceased by her parents Eileen and Pat, sister Shirley, brothers: Melvin and Michael and her beautiful daughter Kora.

  She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Raymond Gellein, daughters: Cynthia Gellein and Anna Dubois; son Erik Gellein; grandchildren: Kyla, Ian, Travis, Treyson, Xidorn and Sabastian; brother Eugene (Christiane), sisters: Sandy Hoffman, Debby Colebank, Mary Hartnett; many nieces and nephews.

  With respect to Joyce’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
