I grew up in a region of wonderful rural neighbors, and Emil was one of those at the top of the list. He stands out as a significant part of the memories of my youth: his wit and humor, his straightforward and generous disposition, his stalwart and sensible character, and those dashing good looks! I'm so glad to have known him, and I will always remember him with great admiration.
My deepest sympathies to all of the members of his family and his close friends.
