My condolences to the family. A life long resident and a career railroader of my, our, hometown. I had the good fortune to know Red as a lad growing up in Hanna; Red was a colleague railroader of my father (another life long Hanna resident and railroader) and friend of the family. As a young man starting out in the working world I saw Red arriving at the locomotive diesel shops for his next “run.” I recall one time when putting together 5 locomotives for the 815 grain train out of the yard and Red showed me how to cut out a traction motor on an engine. Later, as an Operator in the station, I sat around the coffee bullpen with Red and train crew(s) as they waited the for the train to charge air and the Carmen to finish the mechanical inspection. I always enjoyed Red’s humour around the coffee bullpen. I am saddened with the passing of one of Hanna’s last few old time railroaders. May memories of Red be a blessing to the family.

To Ginny and the Robinson family. I am sorry to hear of the passing of Red. He was a true railroader (hoghead) and booster for Hanna. If I ran into him when I returned home I enjoyed a good conversation as he was very knowledgeable about Hanna's history. The last time we ran into one another was when my mother and I stopped our car beside the railway tracks near Castor and he was the engineer on the tourist train that was held up by train robbers. He obviously enjoyed the chance to be an engineer again and we all had a good chin wag at that time.
