My deepest sympathies to all of Rolly’s family. We go back a long long way, to our youth. I first met Rolly when my family and several young people would go to Youngstown to Rolly’s parents home for weekends of singing, fellowship and fun times. Then weekends when they all came to my parents’ home in Carstairs. We would also meet at the Murray’s home in Calgary. I have so many memories, of special times, fun times and heartbreaking times when we lost our precious friend Iris, in an accident on the way to Haugen’s.
I am glad I got to view the Live stream of Rolly’s funeral. I’ve been out of touch for years, living now in Oregon, but I am so thankful Rolly renewed his vows to serve our loving Heavenly Father.
With love to you, Gayle, Lloyd and Gilbert and warm memories from our youth!
Loretta

My condolences to Rolly's family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss. This part is never easy.
Rolly and I go back a long, long ways. My husband and I met Rolly when we lived in Bon Accord in the mid 80's. I was a volunteer for the ambulance service there. Rolly started shortly after me and like the rest of us core group of volunteers, he was always around. Always ready to talk, to join in, and help out. Many times I would get to the station for a call and Rolly would already have the ambulance out on the pad and running! Even when he couldn't go on the call. We worked together on quite a few calls back then. Eventually, my husband and I moved away, but we did keep in touch with Rolly and a few of the other volunteers. Then in the mid 90's hubby and I moved to Redwater. I stopped by the Medicare Ambulance office inquiring about a job, and imagine my surprise when a few days later I received a call from a very familiar voice! I had no idea Rolly was working there both as a dispatcher, and an EMT! He asked me when I was coming in for my orientation, lol. I got to work with Rolly again. -more fond memories.
I was sad to see Rolly leave EMS. We all knew he absolutely loved it. EMS and fire were his passion. I will miss that smile and smirk, and his quiet chuckle. -Until we meet again Rolly. Cheers!

Rolly was my partner when I first became an Advanced Care Paramedic. He was a great partner and always had my back. He was always calm and composed when I felt like I was going to pee my pants. He seemed to know everybody and was constantly being approached by members of the community, coworkers, and EMS who would stop to say hi, even in the middle of a call. We shared lots of laughs and some tears through that time. I’m glad to have worked and had his friendship. My condolences to his dearest friends and family.

I worked with Rolly for many years before I started working in Edmonton. He always had your back and did my unit checks when my lazy ass was too tired to get out of bed. Probably one of the hardest working and most compassionate person I know. He always had your back. Condolences to Rolly’s family and friends

My first memory of Rolly was a bad night in the ER. I was a little kid, screaming and crying my head off and Rolly was in for a call when he worked as an EMT in Smoky Lake. He went and fetched a big teddy bear for me to keep, sat and helped my mom calm me down. As I grew up, my uncle being on the firefighter I got to know Rolly quite well. He was always so kind and so friendly. He will be fondly remembered and missed by our community. My deepest condolences to his family.

I’m so sad to hear about the loss of Rolland. He was a great wit who was always ready to joke and always so kind to me. We had good natured banter about which profession was better - Emergency Services or Nursing:)) On behalf of my dad; John Cowan, and myself we offer our deep condolences to his family and friends and are thankful for his faithful life!
